Important Visit – A suspect accused of orchestrating a bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi elementary school in the Jagakarsa district of South Jakarta now faces potential imprisonment ranging from five to twenty years. According to police officials, the legal consequences for this individual could be quite severe depending on how the investigation unfolds and what additional evidence emerges.

AKP Joko Adi, who serves as the Public Relations Section Chief for the Metro Jakarta Selatan Police, provided details about the situation during a press conference held at the police headquarters on Monday. He explained that the minimum sentence stands at five years while the maximum reaches twenty years of incarceration.

Thorough Investigation Process Underway

Law enforcement officers have conducted an extensive search operation involving sixteen separate rooms within the school premises. This comprehensive search was carried out with assistance from the K-9 unit of the Metro Jaya Regional Police as well as the Bomb Disposal Unit belonging to the Gegana Force under the National Police Headquarters. The coordinated effort ensured that no potential explosive devices were overlooked during the operation.

“Kami melakukan analisa IT untuk mencari keberadaan terduga pelaku,” ucapnya.

Additionally, investigators have interviewed five witnesses who can provide crucial information about the incident. Among these witnesses is the teacher who first received the threatening message via chat application, along with administrative staff members from the school’s Tata Usaha department. These testimonies help establish a timeline of events and identify how the threat was communicated to school personnel.

Suspect Apprehended Near School Location

The suspect was successfully captured at twelve twenty in the afternoon local time in Gang Kidan, located within the Kampung Srengseng Sawah neighborhood. This area falls under the jurisdiction of the Srengseng Sawah village in the Jagakarsa district of South Jakarta. The arrest location is notably close to the school where the threat originated, suggesting the suspect may have been monitoring the situation from nearby.

Police also secured important evidence including a mobile phone that remained connected to the WhatsApp number used to send the threatening message. This digital evidence will be crucial for forensic analysis and establishing connections between the suspect and the threat delivery system.

“Jadi ancaman hukuman minimal lima tahun, maksimal 20 tahun,” kata Kepala Seksi Humas Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan AKP Joko Adi kepada wartawan di Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan, Senin.

Comprehensive Motive Investigation

To thoroughly understand the motivations behind this incident and determine the full extent of the suspect’s involvement, investigators are employing multiple approaches. Forensic psychology experts will be consulted to analyze behavioral patterns and potential psychological factors. The scientific crime investigation method will be applied through digital evidence examination, forensic analysis, and other scientific approaches to build a complete picture of the case.

As part of the response to address psychological impacts on the school community, the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children and Human Trafficking (PPA and PPO) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has been actively involved. They are working alongside relevant parties to provide trauma recovery services and ongoing support for the students affected by this incident.

Legal Framework and Incident Timeline

According to police statements, the suspect is charged under Articles 600 and or 601 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. This legal basis provides the foundation for prosecuting the individual responsible for creating panic among students and staff during what should have been a routine school day.

The bomb threat investigation began on the first day of the Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS), which is the school environment orientation period. Police received the initial report at seven thirty in the morning when students and teachers were conducting their morning ceremony at the school. The threat originated from a personal message sent through the WhatsApp application to a first-grade teacher and administrative staff member.

The content of the WhatsApp message indicated that the threatener claimed they would detonate bombs at eleven different locations within the school. The message also specifically requested that the school administration not report the threat to police authorities. Despite this instruction, the school promptly notified law enforcement, which immediately initiated a thorough search of the premises to ensure student and staff safety.

The successful apprehension of the suspect represents a significant development in the case. Investigators continue to work diligently to gather all available evidence and establish the complete narrative of events. The combination of digital forensics, witness testimonies, and psychological analysis will help determine whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger coordinated effort. Community members and school families can expect regular updates as the investigation progresses toward resolution.
